On Thursday Evening October 12, Friday October 13, and Saturday October 14, 2017 Approximately 47 190th AHC Spartan, Gladiator, Horse Unit,Family members and Guests - 1st Cav & 118thAHC Couples, gathered for Our Fourth Reunion. We gathered at The Fairfield Inn Marriott, in McDonough, Ga for Our Thursday evening Meet 'N Greet and Friday evening Program. On Friday we toured the Heritage Park Veterans Museum and Wall of Honor, followed by an Awesome Lunch. We had planned for the Unveiling of a 190th AHC 12x12 Brick at The Wall of Honor; however it was not completed by Our Reunion date. I will attend the unveiling and send pictures when Our Honor Brick is layed at the Flag Pole. Lunch was provided by the Heritage Park Veterans Museum. After lunch we traveled to Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton GA where we were able to view the track and Preview the AMS Air Show, from the Club One Sky boxes. There we were met by Ed Clark, President of AMS, who greeted Our 190th Unit members, explained AMS Nascar Functions and Thanked Our 190th AHC members for Our Service. We returned to Our Reunion Hotel for our Friday evening Program where Mike Roby , Commissioner of Georgia Department of Veterans Service, along with Brian Zeringue, Director of Public Information, Addressed Our Unit members and Presented each member present with a Certificate of Honor, for honorable Vietnam Service as members of the 190th Assault Helicopter Company. The Certificates of Honor were signed by Geogia Govenor Nathan Deal. After this Ceremony we held our Program recognizing Pilots, Crew Chiefs, Door Gunners and Horse Maintenance members, reminisced over Good Times, Sad Times, Celebrated Each Other, and Remembered Our Fallen Brothers reading aloud each name, followed by Group Pictures.
Saturday we left early for Hampton GA and the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation, touring the Flight line, Hueys, Cobras, and being able to again witness the wonderful Sound of a H Model Crankin, Turnin, and Burnin. It gives you chill bumps. This was followed by a Big Pig BBQ lunch in the Hangar. Davey Adams BBQ was GOOODD!
Due to an overcast, we had to wait for a 1500' ceiling before we could fly, which gave some an hour wait sittin in the Huey and I sat in the Gunner seat of the Cobra for 30 -40 minutes. AAHF Pilots crewed the Huey and OUR Spartan 13 Tom McNamara flew Our Cobra. Tom is an AWESOME AC! We had many wait times during the day as the Air Boss allowed the Fixed Wingers ZOOM around before we could safely fly. We finally got back to our Reunion Hotel around 5:30 for those of us waiting for our flights.
