On Friday July 22, 2016 Approximately 50 190th AHC Spartan, Gladiator, Horse Unit and Family members gathered for Our Third Reunion, this time a Lunch Buffet. Some had not seen Flight Crew, Hangar or Maintenance Brothers in 49 Years. Some since Our 2013 Reunion, Some since Our 2015 Reunion. We gathered in Tuscany 9, at The Peppermill in Reno, NV, and had a wonderful time.
Thanks Danney, but after 45 years, I’d just as soon leave things as memories. You can certainly read my letter to the group, but no email stuff. I think you and Mama are doing a smashing job with the web site. Thanks for your involvement, I know it means a lot to a lot of people. With appreciation . Charley Vaughan
Hi Danney, Thanks for the warm invitation to join the Spartans and Gladiators in Reno this summer. Unfortunately my days of gallivanting off to distant ports are behind me. I think about those days in Vietnam with incredible nostalgia and would like to pass my best wishes to the guys who made those times so memorable. The 190th was one of the first units of its kind to be turned over to Vietnamese military management and the reason being that it represented the best AHC in theater. That didn’t come as any surprise to me!
I finished up my military career in 1980 as plant commander for Hughes Helicopter Company where we were developing the Apache Attack Helicopter. Nice way to end a career in Army Aviation. Since then I worked another few years working with Gen Jim Jagger’s as a consultant to Hughes, went sailing about the world in my 33 foot sailboat and ended up immigrating to Canada where I found my calling helping manage a volunteer salmon restoration society on Vancouver Island. We call our group the Oyster River Enhancement Society (ORES).
Thanks again for the invitation and I wish you all a great reunion.
Yours sincerely. Charley Vaughan Alias Spartan 6
